Nevada City

sunny

images.jpegWe had a great drive yesterday -- nearly 11 hours but very pleasant for the most part. There was the beautiful scenery going through Grass Pants and the Rogue Valley. I even saw one of those yellow road signs for a bear crossing -- no bears though. We stopped in Ashland for ice cream and a good leg stretch in Lithia Park. We crossed into California and could almost reach out and touch Mt. Shasta. The weather was crystal clear and we could make out every detail of the mountain. By the time we got to Redding the temperature was 97. Meanwhile, inside the much cooler car, we listened to the first four cassettes of the unabridged Gone With the Wind (it's 36 cassettes long), alternating with some DVDs for Sarah and Peter. I think we've been introduced to most of the characters by now and we're all into it. We've had a nice visit with our cousins here and some good (much needed) walks. On to Lakes Tahoe and Mono and the Eastern Sierra.

Just checking in. The weather here is showers, showers, showers, showers and then just to torture us, sun in the late afternoon. This is not doing anything for my peppers. xsut
